The Verandah Antigua is set to host a Pickleball Pro Series from June 8 to June 17, bringing professional instruction and competitive programming to the island as pickleball tourism continues to gain momentum across the Caribbean.
According to Antigua News Room, the series will feature Frank Solana, the 2022 U.S. Open Pickleball champion and founder of Luna Pickleball Academy. Solana will lead five days of complimentary clinics for resort guests beginning June 8, with sessions covering serving techniques, return strategies, volley skills and overall court awareness.
Solana will also conduct a two-day intensive training camp on June 13 and 14. The premium program includes 12 hours of instruction along with additional player benefits.
Professional player and instructor Shea Underwood is scheduled to host a clinic on June 17. Danea Zeigle, founder of All Things Pickleball, will also participate in the event.
The series follows a recent pickleball event at the resort featuring top-ranked player Ben Johns, and forms part of a broader push by Elite Island Resorts to expand its pickleball offerings across its Antigua properties. The company now operates 19 pickleball courts in Antigua, including four dedicated courts at The Verandah.
Kari Tarnowski, chief commercial officer of Elite Island Resorts, said the company aims to position Antigua as a leading destination for pickleball travelers seeking both professional instruction and competition alongside a Caribbean vacation experience.
