The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) delivered a total economic impact of US$19.5 million for Antigua & Barbuda during its 2025 tournament, according to an independent Economic Impact Assessment conducted by GSIQ, as reported by Antigua News Room.
Five CPL matches held at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium produced a direct economic impact of US$10.7 million. An additional US$8.8 million in international media value promoted Antigua & Barbuda across global broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
A total of 23,553 fans attended CPL matches in Antigua & Barbuda, among them 1,733 international visitors. Those visiting supporters stayed an average of 4.5 nights and spent an average of US$3,100 per trip, generating US$4.1 million in attendee spending that benefited accommodation providers, restaurants, transport operators, and local businesses nationwide.
The tournament's direct investment into the local economy was also significant. In 2025, the CPL spent US$3.7 million locally, created 169 new jobs, invested US$2.8 million with local suppliers, and paid US$321,000 in salaries. The tournament further supported community initiatives, including development cricket programmes and CSR activities such as donations of school supplies for children attending match days at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
Over the past two seasons, the CPL and the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons have collectively invested US$7.1 million into the country, reflecting a deepening economic partnership between the tournament and Antigua & Barbuda.
The event's global media footprint added another layer of value. Of the US$8.8 million in international media value generated, US$8.4 million stemmed from broadcast coverage alone, underscoring the tournament's capacity to showcase Antigua & Barbuda to international audiences.
CPL Chief Executive Officer Pete Russell highlighted the tournament's growing relationship with the twin-island nation. "Antigua & Barbuda continues to play an important role in the CPL calendar. Delivering an event impact of US$19.5 million highlights the positive impact the tournament brings to the country, supporting tourism, creating jobs and generating global exposure. The Sir Vivian Richards Stadium provides a fantastic stage for CPL cricket and we are proud to continue growing our partnership with Antigua & Barbuda," Russell said.
