Soca artist Tian Winter will lead Team Antigua at the upcoming FACE OFF event following the withdrawal of Sir Oungku due to ongoing health challenges, according to Antigua News Room.
The news of Sir Oungku's health setback has had a ripple effect across Antigua's Carnival season, affecting advertised performances by Burning Flames, Red Hot Flames, and the highly anticipated FACE OFF competition.
In a statement addressing the development, Winter acknowledged the gravity of the situation while reaffirming that the event would proceed as planned. "As promoters of FACE OFF, we recognize that Sir Oungku's health and well-being are, and must remain, the top priority," Winter said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this time. We wish him a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on stage."
Winter confirmed he will step in to face Dominica's representative, Triple K, in what promises to be a competitive showdown. To bolster Team Antigua in Sir Oungku's absence, Winter said he will be joined by several of the island's prominent musical artists.
"To strengthen Team Antigua and pay tribute to Sir Oungku, I'll be joined by some of Antigua's biggest musical heavy hitters as we prepare to represent our nation and take on Triple K," Winter stated.
The artist called on the public to rally behind the team and help maintain the excitement surrounding the event. "Now is the time for all of us to rally together. Let's keep the energy alive and make FACE OFF a night to remember," he said.
