There are victories, and then there are victories that become part of sporting folklore.

According to Antigua News Room, Money Team extended their historic unbeaten streak to 20 consecutive matches on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, surviving a fierce challenge from defending champions Titans to claim a crucial first-night advantage in the Elrick Pat Beazer Championship Final at Larry and Perla's Bar on Back Street.

The streak, now spanning every match since February, came within a single rack of ending. Titans pushed the unbeaten side to the absolute limit before captain Purran delivered the knockout blow in the deciding contest, sealing a 5-4 victory for Money Team.

The evening opened with a measure of redemption. Money Team's Stamma faced Cue Ball Ricky of the Titans in a rematch of an earlier season encounter. Their previous meeting had come shortly after Stamma was discharged from hospital following surgery, competing through pain. Ricky won that contest convincingly. Healthy and fully fit this time, Stamma rewrote the script — sweeping Ricky in two straight racks to give Money Team the early advantage.

The Titans responded immediately. Caribbean Pool Ambassador Scarface, the Titans' overseas import, showed exactly why he carries such a reputation. After taking the opening rack against the experienced Bandmaster Ringo, he appeared on course for another victory. Ringo battled back to level the contest, but a heartbreaking scratch in the deciding rack handed Scarface the match and tied the team scores at 1-1.

Money Team regained the lead through Keon (KT), who comfortably defeated Charbel in straight racks to make it 2-1. Titans captain Bad then levelled matters again, producing a commanding straight-rack victory over the in-form Michael to restore parity at 2-2.

Money Team answered yet again. Despite dropping the opening rack to hometown favourite Ses — who knows Larry and Perla's tables better than almost anyone through hosting the venue's Sunday tournaments — Antonio refused to panic. He settled into rhythm, won the next two racks, and edged Money Team ahead 3-2.

The Titans were far from finished. Nalda, who had seen limited action throughout the season, stepped into one of the biggest moments of the campaign and delivered. After winning the opening rack, Nalda watched Inshan fight back to level before responding with a composed performance in the deciding rack to restore parity at 3-3.

Momentum then swung fully toward the Titans. Peck silenced the resilient Comeback Kid, winning in straight racks as the Titans moved ahead 4-3 — their first lead of the night and suddenly just one rack away from ending Money Team's remarkable unbeaten run.

With history hanging in the balance, the pressure shifted to Terry. Standing opposite Chapo, Terry carried not only his own expectations but those of an entire team desperate to keep the streak alive. Chapo looked poised to deliver the decisive blow, but Terry claimed the opening rack before Chapo answered to level the match. With everything on the line, Terry held his nerve in the deciding rack, dragging Money Team level at 4-4 and setting up a winner-take-all finale.

Everything rested on the anchors. With a 20-match unbeaten streak and the opening night of the championship balanced on one final race, Edwards faced Purran.

There would be no fairy-tale ending for the Titans. Calm, composed and clinical, Purran produced a dominant display, leaving little doubt as he secured the deciding victory and preserved what is already the most remarkable streak the NPPA has witnessed.

For the Titans, the defeat will sting, but their performance proved they have the quality to push an unbeaten team to the very edge. As defending champions, they showed tremendous fight and ensured the series remains very much alive.

For Money Team, however, Tuesday night was about more than simply winning. Twenty consecutive victories is no accident. It is the product of consistency, resilience, and championship composure. The streak lives on — and history is still wearing Money Team colours.
