Management at the Public Works Department convened emergency talks Tuesday to resolve a payment dispute that sparked a protest by contractors earlier in the morning.
Truckers demanding payment for outstanding monies owed for services rendered to the department staged a demonstration that brought traffic to a standstill, with government-owned trucks used to block the access road leading to the Ministry of Works on Denry Lane.
The Ministry confirmed the matter is under active discussion at the management level. Officials indicated that efforts are underway to clarify the issues surrounding the outstanding payments and reach a resolution with the affected truckers.
