St. John's Hospice convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Government House, gathering its Board of Directors alongside the organisation's Patrons — His Excellency The Rt. Hon. Sir Rodney Williams, GCMG, KGN, KSt.J, Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, and Her Excellency Lady Williams. According to Antigua News Room, the meeting brought together leadership to review the hospice's performance and chart its strategic direction.
Board Chairman Mr. Pedro Corbin presided over the meeting, which commenced promptly at 10:00 a.m. His Chairman's Report outlined the Board's work and achievements during the financial year ending December 31, 2025, covering governance strengthening, fundraising initiatives, infrastructure improvements, and efforts to secure the hospice's long-term sustainability.
Treasurer Mrs. Pauline Perry presented the audited financial statements for the same period. The statements reflected a modest operating surplus, reaffirming the organisation's sound financial management. The Board acknowledged the continued generosity of donors, volunteers, corporate partners, and supporters, whose contributions remain essential to the hospice's mission of delivering compassionate end-of-life care.
Strategic discussions followed, covering opportunities to strengthen fundraising efforts, expand digital giving platforms, and raise greater public awareness of the hospice's work. Her Excellency Lady Williams contributed practical recommendations during the discussions, offering insights expected to inform the Board's future planning.
Governor-General Sir Rodney Williams commended the Board, management, staff, and volunteers for their commitment to providing high-quality hospice care to the people of Antigua and Barbuda. He praised the organisation's governance standards and prudent financial stewardship, and urged the broader community to support the hospice through volunteerism, advocacy, and charitable giving. Following the formal proceedings, Board members were invited on a tour of recently renovated areas of Government House. The tour highlighted significant progress in the restoration of one of the nation's most historically significant landmarks, as well as ongoing efforts to preserve its architectural and cultural heritage.
