Antigua and Barbuda's senior men's basketball team has qualified for the second round of the FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers, defeating the Turks and Caicos Islands 86-57 to finish atop Group A in Guyana. According to Antigua News Room, the Bulldogs closed out the opening stage with a 3-1 record, securing their berth in the next phase of the continental competition.

The second round is scheduled to take place from 23 November to 1 December, though the host nation has not yet been confirmed.

Minister of State and Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association President Michael Freeland congratulated the players, coaching staff, government, and private sponsors, describing the qualification as a proud achievement for the country.

ABBA General Secretary Carlena Knight-Humphreys also praised the team's commitment and extended thanks to supporters who helped fund the campaign. She noted that the focus now turns to preparations for the next round and securing additional financial backing.

Antigua and Barbuda joins Barbados as one of two Caribbean nations to advance. In the second round, the Bulldogs are expected to face opponents including Nicaragua, Venezuela, Jamaica, Cuba, and Costa Rica.

The team is due to return home on Monday before beginning their preparations for the upcoming stage.
