Tyra Fenton has secured Antigua and Barbuda's first medal at the NACAC U18 and U23 Championships, claiming silver in the girls' Under-18 200 metres on Saturday.

According to Antigua News Room, Fenton crossed the finish line in 23.30 seconds to claim second place and deliver the nation's first podium finish of the championships.

The performance marked a strong rebound for the young sprinter, who had finished fifth in the girls' 400 metres just one day earlier before rising to the occasion in the 200m final.

The Antigua and Barbuda Athletic Association congratulated Fenton on the achievement, formally recognising it as the nation's first medal at this year's regional championships.

The silver medal provides a timely boost for Antigua and Barbuda's campaign at the meet, with the country's athletes continuing their competition at the championships.
