ST. JOHN'S, Antigua — Twenty of Antigua and Barbuda's most promising young footballers will represent the nation on the JETS FC European Development Tour 2026 in Poland this July, according to Antigua News Room.
Running from July 12th to 27th, the tour will place the selected athletes in a professional football environment where they will compete in six international matches, train under experienced coaches, and engage with clubs and football professionals across Europe.
The squad earned its places through a rigorous Talent Identification and Football Development Programme hosted by JETS FC earlier this year. The four-day programme, conducted by international coaches and football professionals, drew promising young players from across Antigua and Barbuda. From that pool, twenty athletes were selected based on exceptional talent, commitment, and potential.
Organisers designed the tour to expose participants to the demands of elite football while nurturing personal growth, discipline, leadership, and resilience. Beyond competition, the experience offers these young athletes an opportunity to broaden their horizons, engage with different football cultures, and forge relationships that could shape their futures both on and off the pitch.
The exposure to professional standards is also expected to deliver broader benefits when the players return home, strengthening clubs, schools, and communities across the twin-island nation.
JETS FC invested approximately US$20,000 to host the earlier talent identification programme, underscoring its commitment to creating meaningful development pathways for young Antiguans and Barbudans — opportunities that have historically been available only outside the region.
As reported by Antigua News Room, the initiative reflects JETS FC's long-term vision for youth football development and its belief in sport as a vehicle for personal and national advancement. The twenty-member squad will travel as ambassadors of Antigua and Barbuda, carrying the nation's sporting reputation onto the international stage.
With departure approaching, anticipation is growing among players, coaches, parents, and supporters alike. The tour also presents an opening for the wider community and corporate sector to engage with the programme. JETS FC has indicated that partnerships with organisations committed to youth empowerment and sporting excellence will be critical to sustaining and expanding such opportunities for future generations.
