Prime Minister Gaston Browne has held talks with Romania's Ambassador, Theodora Magdalena Mircea, to explore opportunities for expanded cooperation between Antigua and Barbuda and the Eastern European nation.
According to Antigua News Room, the bilateral meeting took place on the sidelines of the CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in St. Lucia, where regional leaders have gathered to address a broad range of issues.
Discussions centred on strengthening ties in trade, education and human resource development. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Ambassador Mircea proposed organising a Romanian business mission to Antigua and Barbuda, aimed at forging direct links between companies and identifying investment opportunities. The initiative would build on a regional business mission to the Caribbean that took place last year.
The Ambassador also drew attention to opportunities available for Antiguans and Barbudans to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in English, as well as professional training programmes, in Romania.
The meeting forms part of Antigua and Barbuda's broader strategy to strengthen international partnerships and open new avenues for trade, investment and educational advancement.
