The National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda (NYPAAB) has wrapped up its Back-to-School Raffle initiative, distributing a portion of the proceeds to support schools across the twin-island nation. According to Antigua News Room, six schools benefited from the campaign, including two located in Barbuda.
At Newfield Primary School, Grade 5 and 6 students received free eye screenings through a partnership with Eye Mobile Vision Care. The school also received sporting equipment, sponsored by Faster Freight Antigua.
The initiative extended to Barbuda, where the Sir McChesney George Secondary School received air-conditioning units. During the delegation's visit, association leadership also met with members of the school's student council.
NYPAAB President Ezekiel Francois, who also serves as founder of the Barbuda Council, led the delegation and coordinated the handover directly with the school's principal.
The raffle drew strong support from the private sector, featuring more than 50 prizes donated by over 70 businesses across Antigua and Barbuda. Organisers allocated half of all ticket sale proceeds to the six beneficiary schools. The funds and donations supported programmes and resources spanning agriculture, art, sports, and homework assistance.
