The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries and the Blue Economy has cancelled PiAngo Fest for 2026, citing competing priorities, resource constraints, operational requirements and uncertainty surrounding this year's mango crop.
In a statement released Tuesday, the ministry said the decision followed careful consideration and was shaped in part by weather-related impacts on the national mango crop — particularly the difficulty in predicting the peak harvest period.
Officials framed the cancellation as a protective measure for the festival's future. "While this decision was not taken lightly, the Ministry believes it is necessary to ensure the festival's continued growth and long-term sustainability," the statement read.
PiAngo Fest has grown into one of Antigua and Barbuda's flagship agricultural events, drawing farmers, agro-processors, vendors, entertainers and families. The annual festival promotes local products, supports small businesses and raises public awareness of agriculture's contribution to national development.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to the festival and extended thanks to exhibitors, sponsors, performers, volunteers and patrons for their support over the years.
The 2026 break will give officials time to review and strengthen the festival's framework, partnerships and overall direction, ensuring future editions continue to deliver value to participants and the wider public, the ministry said.
Further updates on plans for PiAngo Fest will be shared at a later date.
