The Antigua & Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association (ABAVA) has announced the departure of the nation's under-20 beach volleyball delegation to St. Kitts & Nevis for a week of regional competition and development running from July 7 to 12, 2026. According to Antigua News Room, the delegation is travelling with the support of the Association of National Olympic Committees of the Eastern Caribbean (ANOCES) and the Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee (ABNOC).
The week's activities form part of a broader regional initiative led by ANOCES, uniting National Olympic Committees from across the Eastern Caribbean in a programme centred on sport, athlete development, and regional collaboration.
Complementing that initiative, the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) has organised a full schedule of volleyball activities, including development programmes for coaches and officials, alongside the 2026 ECVA Under-20 Beach Volleyball Championship.
Antigua & Barbuda will be represented at the Championship by four athletes: Miguel Peña Lugo, George Freeland, Philisha Burnette, and Faith Gibson. Head Coaches Jamarie James and Rosemarie Simon will lead the national teams, guiding and mentoring the athletes as they compete against some of the region's most promising young beach volleyball talent.
ABAVA expressed sincere gratitude to ANOCES for its leadership in fostering regional sporting partnerships, and to ABNOC for its continued investment in the development of volleyball in Antigua & Barbuda. The association also acknowledged ECVA for organising what it described as a week of meaningful development opportunities and high-level competition that continues to strengthen the sport across the Eastern Caribbean.
ABAVA, ANOCES, and ABNOC extended their best wishes to the athletes and coaches, wishing them safe travels and success as they represent Antigua & Barbuda on the regional stage.
