Artificial intelligence has become a widely used tool in Calypso and Soca music production, with the majority of Trinidad's 2027 Carnival releases expected to incorporate the technology in some form, according to Antigua Observer.

AI strategist Timothy Temal made the remarks during an interview on Observer AM, offering insight into how rapidly the technology is reshaping one of the Caribbean's most iconic musical traditions.

Temal noted that resistance to AI-generated music within the genre is diminishing, signalling a broader shift in how artists and producers are approaching the creative process.

The comments highlight a growing conversation across the Caribbean about the role of emerging technologies in preserving and evolving indigenous art forms such as Calypso and Soca — genres deeply rooted in the cultural identity of the region.
