The Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) has announced its senior men's national team for the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Qualifiers, set to take place in Georgetown, Guyana from July 8 to 12.
According to Antigua News Room, the national squad — known as the Bulldogs — will compete in Group A alongside host nation Guyana, Dominica, Turks and Caicos, and Bermuda. Group B will feature Barbados, Haiti, Grenada, the Cayman Islands, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The competition will follow a round-robin format, with each team facing every other opponent in its group once. The top finisher from each group will advance to the next round of the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers, scheduled for November 2026.
George Hughes will serve as Head Coach, with Bradbury Browne and Cedric David appointed as Assistant Coaches. The broader team delegation includes Operations Manager Inga Francis, Players Manager Christopher Khouly, Media Relations Officer J'nai Spencer, Physiotherapist/Trainer Natrecia Mussington, Equipment Manager Marlon Charles, and Head of Delegation Vere Cornelius.
The Bulldogs open their campaign on July 8 against Bermuda, before facing host nation Guyana on July 9 — a rematch of the 2018 Caribbean Qualifiers final. Antigua and Barbuda will then take on Dominica on July 11, before concluding their group stage schedule against Turks and Caicos on July 12.
The team is set to depart Antigua ahead of the tournament.
