The Fifth Annual AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2026), which had been set to draw a significant delegation from Antigua and Barbuda — including Prime Minister Gaston Browne — has been postponed due to evolving public health concerns in parts of Africa, according to Antigua.news.

The forum, jointly organised by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis, had been scheduled to take place in Basseterre from July 29 to 31, 2026.

In a statement, the organisers said the decision followed the latest guidance from regional, continental and international public health authorities regarding the changing public health situation in several African countries. They described postponing the event as the most responsible course of action to protect the health and well-being of delegates, speakers, sponsors, partners and all other participants.

Antigua and Barbuda had been expected to field one of the largest official representations at the forum. Prime Minister Gaston Browne was among the government officials and business leaders who had been preparing to attend the high-level trade and investment gathering.

The annual forum has grown into an important platform for strengthening commercial and investment ties between Africa and the Caribbean. It brings together heads of government, policymakers, investors and private sector leaders to explore opportunities for economic cooperation.

The organisers acknowledged the extensive preparations already undertaken by delegates and stakeholders, stating that the postponement decision was reached only after careful consideration. They extended their apologies for the inconvenience caused and thanked participants, sponsors and partners for their continued support and understanding.

Afreximbank and the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis confirmed that a new date for ACTIF2026 will be announced through their official communication channels once it has been determined. Participants and stakeholders have been advised to monitor the forum's official website for further updates.
