Antigua-based regional carrier LIAT Air has issued an apology to passengers after unforeseen technical problems grounded aircraft and triggered delays and cancellations across its network over two days. According to Antigua.news, the airline confirmed the disruptions in a statement released on Wednesday.

The airline said the affected aircraft were temporarily removed from service to undergo inspections and maintenance before they could safely return to operation. LIAT Air described the decision as necessary to uphold passenger safety, despite the significant impact on its flight schedule.

"While these actions were essential to ensuring the highest safety standards, they resulted in delays and cancellations that impacted a number of flights," the airline stated.

LIAT Air said it has since activated recovery measures to restore normal scheduling and minimise further disruption. Operational teams are working to rebook affected passengers on the next available LIAT Air services, partner airlines, or other available carriers where possible.

The carrier said it is making every effort to resume normal operations as quickly as possible while maintaining its safety standards.

LIAT Air also extended its apologies for the inconvenience and thanked passengers, partners, and stakeholders for their patience and understanding during the disruption.

The airline reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable regional air service, emphasising that passenger safety will continue to guide all operational decisions.
