The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has successfully completed the first phase of its overnight water infrastructure upgrade, installing approximately 400 feet of new water pipe along St. Mary's Street. According to Antigua.news, crews mobilised equipment and commenced pipe installation during the initial night of operations.

The works form part of APUA's broader water main replacement project, which employs Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) — a trenchless construction technique that allows underground pipelines to be installed with minimal road excavation.

Nightly operations are being conducted along St. Mary's Street and High Street between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. APUA is urging motorists to refrain from parking within the designated work zone during those hours to ensure crews can operate safely and efficiently.

The authority has expressed gratitude to the public for its patience and cooperation as the project advances, noting that the works are aimed at improving Antigua and Barbuda's water distribution network.
