Passengers travelling with LIAT Air on Monday endured hours-long delays, poor communication and inadequate customer service after flights departing St Kitts to Trinidad and Tobago and Saint Lucia were disrupted, according to Antigua News Room.
Travellers reported receiving little or no information from airline representatives despite repeated inquiries. Some waited more than five hours at the airport, and several criticised the airline for failing to provide meals or refreshments during the disruptions.
One passenger said a flight scheduled to depart at 9 a.m. had still not left by early afternoon. Another traveller bound for Saint Lucia said passengers were forced to seek updates on their own after no official announcement was made regarding the delay.
The disruption affected more than travel plans. Some passengers said the delays impacted work commitments and dampened what had otherwise been positive experiences at the St Kitts Music Festival. One traveller reported being stranded overnight in Antigua following an eight-hour delay, describing the airline's communication as "non-existent."
Unconfirmed reports, as noted by Antigua News Room, suggested the delays may have been linked to documentation issues affecting refuelling operations in St Kitts. Those claims have not been independently verified.
As of the time of publication, LIAT had not publicly commented on the passenger complaints or provided an official explanation for the operational disruptions.
