The Antiguan government is moving forward with plans for a major mixed-use development at Perry Bay, with 13 acres of land earmarked for a project that will include condominium-style housing, a marina, and additional amenities.
According to Antigua News Room, Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant revealed the plans during Thursday's post-Cabinet media briefing, while providing updates on housing initiatives discussed at Wednesday's Cabinet meeting.
Merchant confirmed that Cabinet has agreed the 13-acre site at Perry Bay should be surveyed as part of preparations for what the government envisions as a significant residential and commercial development.
"The Cabinet also agreed that some 13 acres at Perry Bay will be surveyed for a housing project," Merchant said.
The proposed development will feature condominium-style housing and a marina, with further amenities still under discussion. Merchant indicated that Perry Bay is expected to become the next major phase of housing development following progress on a separate initiative in the Bolans area, where 50 homes are being constructed in partnership with the Chinese government.
Officials believe the development will not only expand housing availability but also enhance the economic potential of the Perry Bay area through new marine and residential infrastructure.
Merchant noted that discussions on the scope and design of the project are ongoing as the government advances plans for the survey and subsequent development of the site. The proposed project is expected to complement broader development efforts across Antigua and Barbuda as the government seeks to stimulate investment in key growth areas.
