Preparations for Antigua Carnival 2026 have reached a significant milestone with the assembly of what organisers are calling the largest stage in the Caribbean, now underway at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG). According to Antigua.news, construction crews are actively transforming the historic venue into Carnival City, set to serve as the central hub for performances and entertainment during next year's festival.
The massive structure is being erected by Sound 2000 of St. Maarten in collaboration with local technicians. The project represents a major investment in the production infrastructure supporting Antigua Carnival and signals ambitious plans for the 2026 edition.
Sound 2000 Managing Director Earl "Churchie" York described the scale of the structure in detail. The stage can be expanded to dimensions of 150 feet by 50 feet and rise to heights of up to 40 feet. Its design consolidates major production elements — including sound, lighting, and staging infrastructure — under a single roof, creating a more streamlined and efficient setup for concerts, pageants, and other large-scale events.
York also highlighted the project's benefit to the local workforce. Workers are gaining hands-on experience in the assembly, dismantling, and ongoing maintenance of the structure, providing practical training opportunities tied directly to the build.
Once complete, the stage is expected to deliver a commanding visual presence at the ARG while giving production teams significantly greater flexibility to craft high-impact experiences for patrons.
With construction progressing steadily, anticipation is mounting ahead of Antigua Carnival 2026. Organisers have confirmed the festival will be held under the theme "Feel the Rhythm," promising a season of music, culture, and entertainment befitting the landmark production upgrade.
