A frustrated land purchaser has issued a public appeal to the Director of Social Security, demanding either the delivery of promised infrastructure or a full refund of more than forty thousand dollars spent on a parcel of land in the Paynters area.
According to Antigua News Room, the letter writer purchased the land from the Social Security establishment nearly two years ago, describing it as their first and only investment to date — one made with the hope of eventually building a home.
However, the buyer states that to date, no infrastructure has been installed on the property. Essential services including roads, water, and electricity remain absent, and the land itself has become overrun with heavy vegetation.
"I find this grossly unfair and disrespectful to those of us who bought the lands there," the letter writer states. "The lands are fully paid off for, so why are we being treated this way?"
The author notes they have been renting accommodation for several years and had hoped the land purchase would mark the beginning of homeownership. With no visible progress at the site, the buyer says they would welcome a full refund in order to pursue their investment elsewhere.
The letter raises broader concerns about the obligations owed to other buyers who may be in a similar position, suggesting this is not an isolated grievance but a shared frustration among those who invested in the Paynters development.
