Record water production at the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has not translated into reliable supply for all households, according to Antigua Observer. The Water Business Unit's Acting Manager, Jason Peters, says high output figures do not guarantee that water reaches every tap across the island.
Peters, speaking as a guest on a recent edition of Observer AM, drew a clear distinction between what APUA's production plants are designed to generate and what actually flows through to consumers. The Acting Manager explained that achieving record production levels at the plant level is a separate challenge from ensuring consistent distribution throughout the network.
As reported by Antigua Observer, Peters outlined the gap between the authority's production capacity and the realities of delivering water to all residential and commercial customers. Despite the milestone output figures, many residents continue to experience interruptions or a complete absence of supply at their properties.
The comments shed light on the infrastructural and logistical challenges that persist within APUA's water distribution system, even as the authority achieves new benchmarks in production. Peters' remarks suggest that resolving the supply gap will require attention beyond simply increasing output at the source.
