Antigua and Barbuda has delivered a standout performance across three major regional table tennis competitions in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with Stuti Kashyap and Mekhi Simmons spearheading a breakthrough campaign. According to Antigua News Room, the results mark a significant step forward for the nation's presence in Caribbean table tennis.
The campaign began at the CAC Qualifier, where Kashyap secured a spot among the region's top competitors. Simmons narrowly missed a top-four finish but claimed a first alternate position, demonstrating his growing competitiveness at the highest level.
Both athletes then competed in the Senior Central American and Caribbean Championships, holding their own against experienced opposition and gaining valuable exposure on the regional stage.
The most remarkable results came at the Caribbean Youth Championships, where the Antiguan contingent surged onto the podium. Kashyap claimed the U19 Girls Singles title and added U19 Girls Doubles gold alongside St. Lucia's Shatal Charles, cementing her place among the Caribbean's elite young players.
Kashyap and Simmons then combined to win bronze in U19 Mixed Doubles, further underlining the pair's growing regional standing.
The performances have earned Kashyap qualification for three major international competitions in 2026 — the CAC Games in July, the ITTF Youth Pan American Championships in August, and the ITTF Americas Championships in October — a significant milestone for both the athlete and the country.
The Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA) credited the campaign as a reflection of the sport's growing momentum locally, noting that the nation's athletes are not merely participating at the regional level, but actively progressing within it.
