A team from the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) returned home Tuesday after securing second-place finishes in both the experienced and apprentice categories at the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) Linesworker Rodeo, held in Dominica over the weekend.
According to Antigua News Room, APUA highlighted the double podium performance as a testament to the skill, training, and teamwork of its linesmen.
The annual competition brings together utility workers from across the Caribbean to test their technical abilities and safety practices through simulated field challenges. APUA noted that the event also served as an opportunity to strengthen relationships among regional utilities and exchange industry best practices.
Beyond the competitive results, officials said the experience reinforced the high standards of work maintained within the organisation and contributed meaningfully to the professional development of its team members.
APUA said it is already looking ahead to next year's competition, with the goal of building on this year's strong results.
