Local tourism businesses stand to gain far more than immediate exposure from the Caribbean Travel Marketplace, with benefits expected to extend well beyond the event itself through sustained international media coverage and direct product promotion.
According to Antigua Observer, Chief Executive Officer of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Colin C. James, highlighted the significance of having a large international press contingent on island during the marketplace. "Having a crew of 40-odd international press from the hospitality sector in Antigua can only be good news," James said, pointing to the ripple effect such visibility can generate for local tourism stakeholders.
James noted that the presence of international media representatives from the hospitality sector presents a unique opportunity for Antigua and Barbuda to secure coverage that reaches well beyond the duration of the event itself. Direct product exposure to journalists and travel industry professionals is expected to translate into longer-term promotional value for businesses operating within the local tourism sector.
