The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division is advising the public of a Toyota recall affecting more than 9,000 Lexus vehicles due to a fuel pump defect that may cause stalling and increase the risk of crashes. According to Antigua News Room, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has confirmed that 9,139 Lexus vehicles are affected.
The defective fuel pump can trigger the check-engine warning light, prevent the engine from starting, or cause the vehicle to stall while in operation — all of which raise serious safety concerns for drivers.
The recall covers the following models:
• 2015–2022 Lexus RC • 2016–2020 Lexus GS • 2022 Lexus IS
The recall campaign numbers are 26LB05 and 26LA05. Owners of affected vehicles are entitled to a free fuel pump replacement at an authorised dealership.
The Division is reminding consumers that under the Consumer Protection Act 2025, they are not required to pay for any repairs related to a manufacturer's safety recall.
