The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division is urging local owners of Kia Carnival vehicles to take immediate action following a recall of approximately 141,000 units by Kia America due to a fuel-pipe defect that poses a fire risk.
According to Antigua News Room, the recall covers Kia Carnival models manufactured between 2022 and 2026. The defect involves the fuel pipe connection to the fuel rail, which may leak fuel — a condition that significantly increases the risk of fire.
Kia America is expected to begin mailing official notification letters to registered owners in the United States starting June 2, 2026. However, given the serious nature of the fire risk, the Division is advising local owners not to wait for formal notification before seeking assistance.
The Division is also reminding consumers that they are not required to pay for any repairs carried out under a manufacturer's safety recall.
Residents seeking further information or assistance may contact the Prices and Consumer Affairs Division by telephone at 462-4347, by email at [email protected], or by visiting the official website at consumeraffairs.gov.ag.
