The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division is advising the public that Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 83,000 vehicles due to two separate safety defects — a headlight software malfunction and a faulty exhaust-gas recirculation valve — either of which could pose serious risks to drivers and pedestrians.
The United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has identified both hazards as direct safety threats.
The first recall covers 35,772 vehicles affected by a defective Dynamic Bending Light software system. The fault can cause headlights to turn incorrectly and produce dangerous glare, impairing visibility for both the driver and oncoming road users.
The second recall affects 47,804 vehicles fitted with a defective exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR) valve. That defect can trigger a sudden and unexpected loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion.
Among the affected models are 2025–2026 Ford Explorers. Owners of those vehicles are eligible for a free software update, available either at an authorised Ford dealership or through an over-the-air update.
The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division is reminding the public that consumers are not required to pay for any repairs carried out under a manufacturer's safety recall.
