The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division is alerting Antiguan consumers that Ford Motor Company has issued a recall of more than 83,000 vehicles due to two separate safety defects — one affecting headlight software and another involving a faulty engine component that can cause sudden power loss. According to Antigua News Room, the recall was prompted by findings from the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which identified the hazards as posing a direct risk to both motorists and pedestrians.
The first defect affects 35,772 vehicles equipped with a Dynamic Bending Light software system. A malfunction in this system can cause headlights to turn incorrectly, producing dangerous glare that may impair the vision of oncoming drivers.
The second defect involves a faulty exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR) valve in 47,804 vehicles. A failure of this component can result in a sudden and unexpected loss of drive power, creating a serious hazard on the road.
The recall covers a range of 2025 and 2026 model year vehicles, including the Ford Explorer (2025–2026), as well as the Ford Bronco, Bronco Sport, Escape, Maverick, Mustang, and Ranger — all 2025 models. The 2025 Lincoln Corsair and Nautilus are also included in the recall.
Owners of the affected 2025–2026 Ford Explorer models can receive a free software update either through an authorised dealership or via an over-the-air update. The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division reminds the public that consumers are not required to pay for any repairs associated with a manufacturer's safety recall.
