A judge has recused himself from a high-profile legal dispute between businessman Jack Stroll and the Global Bank of Commerce, just as the case appeared to be approaching a final resolution.

According to Antigua News Room, Justice Renee Williams informed attorneys for both parties that he would no longer preside over the matter, citing personal reasons. No further explanation was provided.

The case has since been reassigned to Justice Birnie Stephenson. Proceedings have been adjourned to July 23 to allow the incoming judge adequate time to review the record and familiarise himself with the matter.

The court also directed that a comprehensive timeline of the case be prepared. It further indicated that no additional applications would be entertained at this stage while it determines how best to proceed.
