Two corporate entities have joined forces to support community development in Antigua and Barbuda, delivering funding and supplies to a health initiative and a cultural organisation. According to Antigua.news, the West Indies Oil Company (WIOC) and PDV Caribe formalised their contributions during a cheque presentation held Thursday at WIOC's conference room.

PDV Caribe General Manager Jellette Ralph and WIOC Brand and Commercial Manager Shari Dickenson presented the donations to Tanya Ambrose of the Scrub Life Care Project and Omari King of the Original Steel Orchestra.

Ralph described PDV Caribe's role as silver sponsor of the upcoming "Grow with the Flo" Health Expo, calling it a key platform for promoting health education and empowerment among women, girls and youth. The expo is scheduled for May 23 at the Cana Moravian Church grounds in Swetes and will feature workshops, panel discussions, youth sessions and the distribution of hygiene and self-care supplies.

The Scrub Life Care Project received a combined $2,000 in support — $1,000 in cash from PDV Caribe and $1,000 worth of products from WIOC — to assist with the event.

The Original Steel Orchestra received $4,500 in total funding, with PDV Caribe contributing $3,000 and WIOC adding $1,500. Ralph highlighted the ongoing partnership with the steelband, noting its role in youth development and cultural preservation. She said the organisation provides young people with opportunities to build discipline, teamwork and creativity while keeping them connected to Antigua and Barbuda's steel pan heritage.

The joint investment reflects both companies' stated commitment to strengthening communities through health outreach, youth engagement and cultural support.
