The Department of Labour is reminding employers across Antigua and Barbuda that compliance with the recently increased national minimum wage is a legal requirement, not an option.

According to Antigua Observer, the reminder comes in response to reports of employee concerns over non-compliance following the new $11.50 minimum wage rate, which took effect on April 1. The department confirmed that informal complaints have surfaced since the new rate was implemented.

Despite the growing concerns from workers, the department noted that, as of the time of reporting, no formal complaints had yet been filed.
