Residents along the Buckleys corridor can expect more reliable water service following ongoing infrastructure upgrades, as crews carry out overnight works to install a new pipeline in the area. According to Antigua.news, the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has confirmed that its Water Business Unit is executing the night works as part of a broader effort to modernise the water distribution network.
At the centre of the upgrade is a 10-inch high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline, which will replace an older line that has been susceptible to frequent breaks. The new pipeline is engineered to better withstand pressure fluctuations, reducing the likelihood of the recurring disruptions that have long affected customers in the Buckleys area.
Testing and commissioning of the new pipeline are expected to begin today, marking a significant milestone in the project. Once fully operational, the upgraded infrastructure is anticipated to deliver more consistent water service and fewer outages to affected residents.
APUA is urging motorists travelling through the area to exercise caution, as work crews remain active on site. A temporary bypass route has been put in place to manage traffic flow during the works.
The Authority has acknowledged that the project may cause some short-term inconvenience and has thanked the public for its patience, emphasising that the works are essential to securing long-term improvements in water reliability across the Buckleys corridor.
