Operations at the Antigua and Barbuda Social Security Board (ABSSB) Long Street branch returned to normal Tuesday afternoon following the resolution of a dispute over hazardous working conditions and outstanding employee appraisals.
According to Antigua Observer, the breakthrough was reached after a five-hour meeting involving the ABSSB, management, and the Antigua & Barbuda Free Trade Union (ABFTU), which had been engaged in talks over the concerns raised by workers at the branch.
The ABFTU and ABSSB management reached an agreement that addressed staff grievances related to health and safety conditions at the workplace, as well as the matter of outstanding employee appraisals, as reported by Antigua Observer.
With the resolution in place, workers returned to their posts, restoring normal service to members of the public who rely on the Long Street branch for social security matters.
