The Labour Department has officially confirmed that a new minimum wage of $11.50 per hour will take effect across Antigua and Barbuda on April 1, 2026, according to Antigua News Room.

The Attorney General and Minister of Labour issued the new Minimum Basic Wage Order under Statutory Instrument No. 30 of 2026, in accordance with Section C21 subsection (10) of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Code Cap. 27, as amended.

The order applies to all employment in Antigua and Barbuda and carries legal obligations for employers. Under Section C22 subsection (5) of the Labour Code, employers are required to post the applicable minimum wage rate on a notice board in the workplace wherever the national basic minimum wage applies.

The Labour Department is reminding employers that failure to pay the mandated National Basic Minimum Wage constitutes an offense that is punishable by fine upon summary conviction.
