Antiguan athlete Kamar Thomas claimed victory in the headline 25K Trail Race at the AUA Rohrman Trail & Swim Fest, delivering a commanding performance against a high-calibre international field. According to Antigua.news, the win marks a standout result for local sport in one of the event's most competitive editions.
Thomas crossed the finish line in 2:32:33, edging Trinidad and Tobago's Michael Honore into second place, while Jamaica's Kemar Leslie secured third in a tightly contested regional showdown. The quality of the field was further reflected by top-five finishes from Guadeloupean trail champions Willy Vaitilingom and Marius Urcel.
In the women's 25K event, Guadeloupe's Christina Laurent dominated to take first place in 3:02:00. Antigua's Margarita Fernandez turned in a strong performance to finish second, with Trinidad and Tobago's Patricia Sorias rounding out the podium in third.
The festival drew more than 100 athletes from across the Caribbean and beyond, with participants travelling from Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Guadeloupe, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, and France.
In the 4K open water swim, France's Benjamin Sanson extended his unbeaten streak in Antigua by winning the male division, while Jacqueline Jodhan of Trinidad and Tobago claimed the women's title. Antigua's Julie Esty finished second in the female category.
Triathlon events also produced strong local results. Antiguan Tiger Tyson won the Olympic triathlon, Elite Thomas took the men's sprint title, and Sophie Bown captured the women's sprint event.
Organisers say the AUA Rohrman Trail & Swim Fest continues to cement its standing as a premier Caribbean endurance event, combining elite competition with community participation and reinforcing Antigua and Barbuda's profile as a sports tourism destination.
