Students at Sir McChesney George Secondary School took centre stage during a recent equipment handover ceremony, managing media operations and demonstrating skills that reach well beyond athletics.

The Ministry of Sport announced the handover, noting that the exercise highlighted the broad range of opportunities sports programmes can provide — including media, communications and event management.

By involving students directly in the ceremony, officials gave them valuable hands-on experience in a real-world setting. The ministry described the initiative as a demonstration of how sports programmes can foster practical, transferable skills applicable across many fields.

The Ministry of Sport reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring students throughout Antigua and Barbuda have access to such opportunities, as part of a wider effort to support well-rounded development through sport.
