The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) has issued a formal notice to former staff members regarding retroactive payments tied to a 9% salary increase and a risk allowance, according to Antigua News Room.
Former employees who were on staff between January 1, 2019, and January 31, 2024, are eligible to receive the outstanding balance of retroactive payments associated with the 9% salary increase for that period. Any payments already received toward that total will be deducted from the outstanding balance.
To qualify, former employees must have been employed after January 1, 2019, and must have held a permanent position — not a fixed-term contract — during the qualifying period.
Separately, former employees who worked at SLBMC between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2019, and who did not receive a risk allowance during that time, may also be eligible for retroactive risk allowance payments.
All inquiries are to be directed to [email protected], with the subject line formatted as: First Name Last Name – Retroactive Payment Inquiry (Risk Allowance/9% Increase).
Payment will be issued by cheque for former employees currently residing in Antigua, while those living overseas will receive payment via bank transfer. Applicants are asked to indicate their country of residence in their email.
Residents collecting payment by cheque must state the exact name to be written on the cheque and present a valid government-issued photo ID at the time of collection.
Former employees overseas seeking a bank transfer are required to submit the following documentation: a valid government-issued photo ID, current address, account number or IBAN, name and address of their bank, bank SWIFT code or FW routing number, name and address of any correspondent bank, and the correspondent bank's SWIFT code or FW routing number.
Once submitted information is confirmed, SLBMC will communicate cheque collection dates and electronic payment timelines to applicants via email.
The medical centre thanked all former employees for their past service and expressed appreciation for their patience as the payment process is carried out.
