Antigua and Barbuda's women's national team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Jamaica in their Concacaf Championship qualifier in Kingston on Saturday, with Reggae Girlz captain Khadija Shaw stealing the show with a clinical hat-trick.
According to Antigua News Room, Shaw opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before half-time, sending goalkeeper Anik Jarvis the wrong way. She doubled Jamaica's advantage shortly after the break with a powerful left-footed strike inside the box, then completed her hat-trick minutes later with a header from a floated cross.
A fourth goal sealed a comprehensive victory for the home side, extending Jamaica's dominance at the top of Group B. The result leaves Jamaica with nine points from three matches, keeping them firmly on course for qualification to the Championship finals later this year.
Despite the heavy scoreline, Antigua and Barbuda's players did not go without recognition. The team acknowledged a "strong and spirited performance" at full-time, with players praised for their effort and resilience throughout the contest.
