The Antigua Cruise Port has received more than 100 applications for just 24 available vendor spots in its new Upland Development project, signalling strong commercial interest in the initiative.
According to Antigua Observer, Marketing and Communications Manager Elijah James confirmed that the expression of interest period, which closed in February, generated an overwhelming response from prospective vendors.
"We've had over 100 applications from different vendors," James said, underscoring the level of demand that has far outpaced the limited number of openings available.
The surge in applications reflects growing enthusiasm among local and regional entrepreneurs eager to establish a presence at one of Antigua's most prominent tourism gateways. The Upland Development project is expected to expand commercial offerings at the cruise port, which serves as a key entry point for visitors to the island.
With applications now closed, port officials face the task of selecting 24 vendors from a highly competitive pool of candidates. No timeline for the final selection process has been announced.
