Construction at the Antigua Cruise Port's upland development is gaining momentum, with excavation and foundation works now underway on a Day Club pool and a series of commercial facilities designed to elevate the cruise passenger experience.

According to Antigua News Room, the port released an update this week confirming that the pool excavation and foundation phase is actively advancing, marking a significant milestone in the broader waterfront transformation project.

Roofing works are also progressing on site, carried out by contractor LICCOM, which is shaping the structures that will house upcoming kiosks and commercial outlets. These facilities are intended to expand retail and service options available to arriving visitors.

Port officials stated that each completed phase of construction is bringing Antigua closer to a more dynamic and contemporary port product — one designed to meet the expectations of modern cruise travellers.

The development is being led by Global Ports Holding as part of a long-term infrastructure upgrade strategy. The company is overseeing the modernisation of one of the Caribbean's key cruise destinations, with the goal of diversifying the port's offerings and creating a more experience-driven environment for passengers disembarking in Antigua.
