Antiguan sprinter Jaeda Pigott has secured her place in the Girls 800 metres Under-17 final at the CARIFTA Games, finishing second in Heat 2 of the preliminary round with a time of 2:18.03. According to Antigua.news, the 15-year-old earned automatic qualification for the final with a strong second-half performance.

Pigott settled into sixth place through the opening lap, recording a split of 1:07.60, before surging home in 1:10.44 to claim second in her heat and book her spot in the final.

Trinidad and Tobago's Nyla Kerr took the heat victory in 2:17.98, while Jamaica's Aneka Lowe finished third in 2:18.55, also advancing automatically alongside Pigott.

The eight-athlete final field was completed by Safiya Prasad of the US Virgin Islands and Fallon Siriban of Haiti, who qualified as the two fastest non-automatic qualifiers with times of 2:19.69 and 2:21.23 respectively.
