Tyra Fenton claimed gold in the Under-17 girls' 100 metres at the 53rd CARIFTA Games on Saturday, edging out The Bahamas' Jazae Johnson in a photo finish after both athletes crossed the line in identical times of 11.30 seconds at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in Grenada.

According to Antigua News Room, Johnson was awarded silver following the judges' decision, while her compatriot Brion Ward rounded out the podium with a bronze-medal time of 11.63 seconds. Jamaica's Azaria Harris finished fourth in 11.73 seconds, with Trinidad and Tobago's Jael Peters placing fifth in 11.87 seconds.

The 100m triumph capped a remarkable day for Fenton, who had earlier earned bronze in the Under-17 girls' 400 metres, setting a championship record of 52.62 seconds in the process.

Fenton had given early notice of her form throughout the day's proceedings, winning her 400m semi-final and posting a personal best of 11.44 seconds in the 100m heats — performances that foreshadowed her golden finish on the track.
