The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has signed a Letter of Intent with the Collectivité of Saint-Martin to strengthen air connectivity across the Eastern Caribbean.
The agreement was signed on April 1, 2026, in Antigua. Prime Minister Gaston Browne brought the matter before Cabinet, describing it as a meaningful step toward deeper bilateral relations and long-term regional cooperation.
Browne said enhanced air connectivity is essential for advancing regional integration, supporting tourism growth, and increasing economic activity among Caribbean states. He noted that both Antigua and Barbuda and Saint-Martin are strategically positioned as key aviation hubs, and the partnership is designed to capitalise on that shared advantage.
The agreement establishes a framework for ongoing collaboration among stakeholders, including airport authorities, tourism agencies, and regional airlines. The objective is to develop more efficient, reliable, and accessible air services throughout the region.
Although a Letter of Intent is not legally binding, Browne characterised it as a significant foundation for future cooperation. The document was also signed by Louis Mussington, President of the Territorial Council of Saint-Martin.
Cabinet welcomed the agreement, highlighting its potential to drive sustainable tourism development, improve regional mobility, and stimulate broader economic growth.
The government says it will continue pursuing strategic partnerships that reinforce Antigua and Barbuda's position as a leading travel and commerce hub in the Caribbean.
