A local stationery and office supply company has reached a significant milestone in its commitment to animal welfare, having now funded 100 free sterilisation surgeries through its ongoing partnership with the Antigua Spay and Neuter Clinic (ASNC).
According to Antigua News Room, Rachel Wood, President and Co-Founder of ASNC, formally acknowledged the contribution during a short presentation held at the clinic's new facility. Wood noted that Paperclips Ltd. has been partnering with the clinic since last year, covering the cost of five animal sterilisations per month — a commitment that has now cumulatively reached 100 surgeries.
"By supporting this important cause, Paperclips is helping to reduce pet overpopulation and improve the quality of life for countless animals," Wood said. "It is inspiring to see a company take such meaningful steps toward making a positive impact."
Wood also highlighted the broader community benefit of the programme, pushing back against the notion that the clinic's work is solely animal-focused. "Whilst most people think we are only helping animals, we are actually helping the community manage and care for their animals better with this important free surgery," she said.
She used the occasion to call on other businesses to follow Paperclips' example. "We hope to find more companies willing to do a similar monthly contribution so we can really attack this ongoing problem. Another 10 or 20 companies would be amazing!"
Mark Layne, General Manager of Paperclips Ltd., expressed the company's satisfaction with the partnership and echoed Wood's appeal for wider corporate support for the ASNC's mission.
