The first phase of the runway rehabilitation project at VC Bird International Airport has been completed, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing upgrade of Antigua and Barbuda's primary aviation gateway, according to Antigua News Room.
Canadian construction and infrastructure firm Aecon Group Inc. is overseeing the redevelopment. The rehabilitation aims to improve runway performance, enhance safety standards, and extend the long-term durability of the airport's critical infrastructure.
With the initial phase now behind them, contractors are expected to advance into the next stage of the project in the coming months.
Local creative firm Spencer Branding Studio has been contracted to document the rehabilitation's progress through aerial drone footage, photography, and video production. The company is providing regular aerial updates and on-site visual coverage to track the project as it unfolds.
The documentation is intended to support project reporting and stakeholder communications, while also creating a lasting visual record of the airport's runway redevelopment.
VC Bird International Airport serves as the country's main aviation hub and plays a central role in Antigua and Barbuda's tourism industry and regional connectivity.
