The Antigua and Barbuda Port Authority (ABPA) is reporting a significant boost in cargo-handling efficiency following the successful integration of a new high-capacity mobile harbour crane at Deepwater Harbour.
According to Antigua Observer, Port Manager Darwin Telemaque confirmed that the facility is now benefiting from a dual-crane system, which combines the newly-commissioned Liebherr LHM crane with existing equipment to dramatically improve operational throughput.
Telemaque told Antigua Observer that the port is reaping the rewards of the upgraded infrastructure, which marks a transformative leap in the authority's cargo-handling capabilities.
The dual-crane configuration allows the port to process cargo at a greater pace, reducing turnaround times for vessels and strengthening Antigua and Barbuda's position as a competitive regional shipping hub.
