CIBC Caribbean has donated $177,000 to two organisations supporting cancer care in Antigua and Barbuda, setting a new fundraising record following its annual "Walk for the Cure" campaign. According to Antigua News Room, the funds were presented to the Breast Friends support group and the Oncology Department at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre during a ceremony held at the Royalton Chic Hotel.

The donation represents a significant jump from the $105,000 raised in 2024, underscoring growing community and corporate support for the initiative.

Then Head of Country Ladesa James Williams presented the funds to Breast Friends President Michelle Lynch and Salma Crump, Marketing Manager at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Walk Managers Jessica Ormond Byer and Natasha Charles also attended the ceremony. The proceeds were divided evenly between the two beneficiaries.

Williams noted that the initiative has expanded well beyond its flagship walk event over the years, now encompassing a range of fundraising activities including Jam for the Cure, Raffle for the Cure, Gala for the Cure, and Music for the Cure. He said each of these events has drawn strong participation from both the corporate sector and the general public.

Representatives from both recipient organisations expressed gratitude to CIBC Caribbean for its continued commitment to cancer care and awareness, highlighting the meaningful impact the bank's contributions have had in addressing one of the community's most pressing health challenges.

CIBC Caribbean also thanked all donors and participants who took part in the 2025 fundraising activities and indicated it looks forward to continued public support when the campaign returns in 2026.
