The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the country's persistent water challenges, citing ongoing investments in production, infrastructure and service delivery.

According to Antigua News Room, APUA issued the statement on Saturday to mark World Water Day 2026, acknowledging that water scarcity remains a significant concern for Antigua and Barbuda and other Small Island Developing States.

The utility confirmed it has made what it described as "significant investments" to expand water production, upgrade existing infrastructure and improve service delivery — all part of a broader strategy to secure a more reliable and sustainable water supply for the nation.

APUA said those investments are designed not only to meet current demand, but to build toward a future in which water scarcity is no longer a defining challenge for residents and communities across the twin-island state.

The authority also renewed its pledge to ensure that all communities in Antigua and Barbuda have consistent access to water, describing the resource as essential to national development and the well-being of the population.
